The American Public Health Association (APHA) Public Health Education Health Promotion section is soliciting the best health education, promotion and communication materials for its 22nd annual competition. The contest provides a forum to showcase public health materials during the APHA Annual Meeting and recognizes professionals for their work. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) invites student and faculty researchers to submit poster abstracts for this year’s expanded poster session at the 2012 National Conference on Health Statistics, held on August 6-8, 2012, in Washington, DC. UNC’s 2012 Water and Health Conference Seeks Manuscripts-- Deadline April 30
The 2012 Water and Health Conference: Science, Policy and Innovation is now accepting abstracts for academic presentations at the event, to be held October 29 – November 2 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The conference is co-hosted by The Water Institute at UNC, based at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health, and The UNC Institute for the Environment. Call for Papers: System Science Applications - Deadline May 1
The Society for Public Health Education’s journal, Health Education & Behavior (HE&B), in collaboration with the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research, the Fogarty International Center, the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute on Dental and Craniofacial Research, and the National Institute on Aging, intends to publish a special issue of the journal devoted to the topic of systems science. This issue will showcase the application of various systems science methodologies to health promotion and public health research questions. Particular methodologies of interest include, but are not limited to: system dynamics modeling, agent-based modeling, network analysis, micro simulation, operations research, and various engineering approaches. The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) is currently accepting abstracts for presentation at the ASTMH annual meeting. Call for Proposals: Healthy Eating Research Releases - Deadline May 22 and August 9
The Healthy Eating Research: Building Evidence to Prevent Childhood Obesity is a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and it supports research on environmental and policy strategies with strong potential to promote healthy eating among children to prevent childhood obesity, especially among lower-income and racial and ethnic populations at highest risk for obesity. This call for proposals is for two types of awards aimed at providing key decision and policy-makers with evidence to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic by 2015. The $10,000 Norman Borlaug Award for Field Research and Application, endowed by the Rockefeller Foundation, will be presented every October in Des Moines, IA, by the World Food Prize Foundation.
