Step Up For
Kids is a non-partisan rally to
raise the profile of children’s issues during this election cycle. The purpose of the event is to draw public
attention to issues affecting America’s children such as poverty, health care, juvenile
incarceration, early care and education, and child abuse. This rally is part of a nationwide event
“Step Up For Kids Day” that includes a rally on the capitol steps of all 50
states.
Why you should “Step Up For Kids”
· Because millions of children live in poverty...millions drop out of school...millions are without health insurance...millions start kindergarten already behind...millions are abused and neglected.
· Because the U.S. ranks 20th in child well-being among 21 wealthy democracies.
· Because federal spending on children is declining sharply as a percentage of the federal budget.
Will we be supporting candidates at the rally?
No! Sponsoring
organizations are 501(c)3 non-profit, non-partisan organizations. Candidates are encouraged to attend, but
there will be no partisan discussion or electioneering.
This is all about kids – making them the priority.
