Addressing inequities in health is probably our most significant public health challenge and crosses all disciplines. In recognition of this and the importance of addressing the social, physical, economic and environmental contributors to these inequalities, we are partnering with the Virginia Department of Health's Office of Minority Health and Public Health Policy and other partners to offer this conference.

Advancing Health Equity: from Theory to Practice
Richmond, September 10-11, 2009

The purpose of the conference was to increase participants’ knowledge and ability to advance health equity through healthy community design. The goal is a call to action by stakeholders throughout Virginia to reverse the inequitable distribution of social determinants of health by designing healthy communities.
